The everyday challenges of living with a food allergy are laid bare in a new survey by The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation.

Findings from a new poll by Natasha’s Foundation, the UK’s food allergy charity, suggest that millions of people with food allergies face discrimination, indifference, tuts and eye rolls because of their condition.

This can significantly impact the mental health and wellbeing of people living with food allergies, and their families, leaving them feeling excluded, isolated, frustrated and anxious.

To help tackle these problems and others, we want the Government to appoint an Allergy Tsar, to champion the one in three people not just with food allergies but other allergies too.

The impact food allergies can have on the health and lives of people not just with food allergies but their families too was first highlighted by the high-profile inquest in 2018 into Natasha’s death.

Natasha was 15 years old when she died from a severe allergic reaction to sesame after she ate a baguette that contained the ingredient but didn’t list it on the labelling.

Since Natasha died in 2016, every year, others have died from food allergies, with children and young people most likely to suffer a fatal reaction.
