If you love sports, choose from the most popular Olympic and Paralympic Sports

Athletics

Perhaps the most famous Olympic sport, athletics is a series of exciting events!  You could pick a long-distance run, a race walk or a more energetic sprint.

Swimming

From para-swimming, marathon swimming and artistic swimming, there is no doubt that water occupies a central place in the Olympic Games. Join this year’s swimmers and practice your front crawl, breaststroke or if you prefer, freestyle! The perfect way to cool down on those warm summer days…

Cycling

A bike ride is a fantastic way to take in your surroundings and explore the beauty of the natural world. Whether it’s a short trip or a longer day out, cycling is a great activity for your Olympic Challenge.

Tennis or table tennis

Take inspiration from Wimbledon champions and challenge yourself to a game of tennis. It’s also a brilliant way to socialise, either by playing with good friends or meeting new people at your local tennis court.

Football

If you loved watching the Euros, why not join in the fun? Whether it’s a quick game of five a side in your local park or practicing in the back garden, football is a great way to get all the family involved in your challenge.

If creativity is your sport, check out these Olympic Challenges

Create your own Olympic mascot

Olympic mascots have been an important part of the games since 1968 and they embody the history of each city. Create your own mascot, inspired by your hometown or this year’s host city, Paris? Draw your new buddy, give them a fun name and a backstory!

For some creative inspiration, check out the amazing lineage of Olympic mascots here.

Draw Olympic flags

Flags play an integral role in the Olympics opening ceremony and throughout the games. This is also a great opportunity to learn more about world geography and the countries taking part! Pick a flag to draw and find out some interesting facts about the country.

The Great Olympic Bake Off

Fancy something tasty to enjoy with the Olympic Games? Get creative in the kitchen and bake an Olympic-inspired treat. You could make a cake decorated with the iconic interlocking rings, or your very own biscuit medals!

You could even take inspiration from this year’s host city Paris and bake a French classic – think delicious macarons, fluffy madeleines or flaky pastries. Bon Appetit!

Write an Olympic quiz

A themed quiz is a fun and interactive way to find out about the fascinating history of the Olympics,. You could ask questions about different host cities, famous winning athletes and the different sports. From geography to history, the trivia possibilities are endless. Challenge your family and friends to a quiz night and you could even award gold, silver and bronze with their very own medal.

Make a souvenir

Get crafting and make something to commemorate the 2024 Paris Olympics. You could knit or sew the Olympic rings, decorate a mug with key dates or design some bookmarks. You could implement highlights from the summer into your design or take inspiration from your favourite athlete.
