Four Month Countdown to Natasha's Law
From 1st October 2021, Natasha’s Law comes into effect for all foods produced and prepacked for direct sale (PPDS), and food labelling will change in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. This new labelling will provide potentially life-saving allergen information on packaging for consumers. A full list of ingredients will be required by law to be stated on the label, along with the name of the food.
We discussed this in more detail including what this means for people with food allergies in our previous blog Six Month Countdown to Natasha's Law
There are now just over four months for food businesses to comply and prepare for Natasha’s Law and we applaud the businesses who have already implemented the necessary changes.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) continues to support businesses in their preparation for Natasha’s Law, and have put together an introduction to help them check if they are affected by the new allergen labelling requirements, whether their products require PPDS labelling, and what to do next to ensure they comply with the law.

We continue to use our voice to make sure that people understand the importance of ‘getting it right’ as the 2-3 million food allergic people in the UK rely heavily on correct and accurate labelling. Natasha’s Law is not just about food labelling, it is about saving lives.
