Scientists hope that farm dust could hold the key to preventing children developing allergies as the Prince of Wales said he was “moved beyond words” by the death of a teenager from an allergic reaction to a Pret baguette.
A study has found evidence that children who grow up on farms have greater protection against allergic rhinitis, which causes sneezing, red eyes and a runny nose.
Researchers believe that the protection may be linked to barnyard dust and the benefits of drinking unprocessed milk and are examining whether they can use extracts to create a new treatment.
